Decorative Panels or Functional Drapes?

When it comes to drapery panels, do they need to provide privacy, light or sound control, protection from heat or cold, or will they simply help frame a beautiful view?  These are the questions to consider when you are deciding between functional drapes or decorative panels.

The width of functional drapes are determined by the rod or track you will be using.  They need to look beautiful and full when closed so rod width and height are the two most important numbers to calculate perfect panel sizes.  Fortunately, the Regal Drapes design tool will do all the heavy lifting and will calculate the panel size for any drapery style simply by entering the width and height of your curtain rod.

If you don't have hardware in place, the design tool will help again.  By entering your window measurements, the design tool will place your curtain rod eight inches past the window on each side and raise it six inches above the top of the window.  You are welcome to make adjustments from here so that the rod or track will be perfectly positioned for your window.

Now you are sure the drapes will function and fit correctly.  The width will be enough to bring the drape back to the wall to prevent light seepage and give you a crisp return.  There will be ample fullness, so when they are closed you will see soft, beautiful folds in your selected fabric.  While all Regal Drapes include a high quality, premium privacy lining, you may choose to upgrade to thermal or black out light for even more light and sound blocking, and additional insulation from heat and cold.
